Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor Review

If something isn’t broken, people often say there’s no need to fix it. While this may seem like sound advice, it can be flawed if we don’t consider possible areas of improvement. This principle applies to various aspects of life, including standards of living, environmental practices, and workplace management.
However, Polestar, the Swedish carmaker, understands the importance of continuous improvement. Despite receiving rave reviews for their Polestar 2 in 2022, they didn’t rest on their laurels. Instead, they went back to the drawing board to refine and perfect their electric fastback for the 2024 model year with the Polestar 2 long range.

The upgrades made to the Polestar 2 long range are subtle but significant. The exterior design now features a new flat panel grille that aligns with the brand’s design language. While some may prefer the previous Grid panel, the new look still communicates that this is the latest and greatest version of the car. The 2024 model also comes with revised 20 inch forged alloy wheels that have sharper looking spokes and gold painted valve caps, indicating that it comes with the Performance Package as standard.

Inside the car, the cabin space remains cosy and intuitive. The seats are soft and supportive, wrapped in WeaveTech vegan leather upholstery. The ambient lighting creates a warm and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a cabin in the woods. The displays include a 12.3 inch instrument panel with two viewing modes and an 11.15 inch infotainment display at the center of the dashboard. The Polestar 2 runs on Android Automotive OS, providing a user-friendly experience even for first time users. It also supports Amazon Prime, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, ensuring a wide range of entertainment options. Additionally, the car features an immersive Harman Kardon sound system.

Space is plentiful in the Polestar 2, both for passengers and cargo. Rear occupants have ample legroom, although the middle passenger may have slightly less due to the hump on the floor. The car offers 405 litres of cargo space at the back and 41 litres up front. Loading and unloading items from the boot is easy thanks to the liftback design and shallow load lip. The boot divider adds convenience with its sturdy hinges and hooks for hanging groceries.

In terms of performance, the 2024 Polestar 2 long range has received a power boost. It comes with a larger 82 kWh battery pack and a dual motor setup, delivering 469 brake horsepower and 740 Nm of torque. It can go from zero to a hundred in just 4.2 seconds, making it one of the quickest electric cars on the market. The Polestar 2 achieves approximately 5.8 km/kWh, and during tests, it achieved even better efficiency at almost 6.5 km/kWh. The Performance Package enhances the driving experience, providing excellent stability and cornering abilities. However, some improvements can still be made regarding steering feedback and ride comfort.

For daily commuting, the Polestar 2 offers a linear driving experience that allows occupants to enjoy the ride at any setting. The one pedal driving system is intuitive and comes with three levels of resistance. It makes driving in start stop traffic during peak hours effortless. Overall, the Polestar 2 strikes a perfect balance between performance and comfort, giving buyers a premium experience with added power and efficiency.

In conclusion, the 2024 Polestar 2 long range dual motor is a car that won’t disappoint. It combines exquisite design, functionality, power, and efficiency, making it a sensible choice for discerning buyers. With its unassuming good looks and impressive package, the Polestar 2 sets itself apart from the crowd of EVs on the market.
