New i5 Brings the BMW 5 Series to Another Level

Introducing the eighth generation of the BMW 5 Series, now with a fully electric drivetrain. The 2024 i5 brings the BMW 5 Series to another level and into the modern era of EVs.
In so doing, without sacrificing its signature design.
Unlike other electric vehicles on the market, the i5 retains the same visual appeal as its gasoline counterpart, allowing for a seamless transition for BMW customers.
The interior of the i5 is luxurious and comfortable, with the addition of a new Veganza upholstery option that adds a unique touch. The i5 also comes equipped with BMW’s latest infotainment technology, making it a pleasure to drive.

On the outside

The i5 looks like a typical 5 Series sedan. BMW chose to maintain the same design language for the EV variant, ensuring that it blends in seamlessly with the rest of the lineup. The interior, however, has received some upgrades. The Veganza upholstery is not only visually appealing but also completely vegan, catering to the growing demand for sustainable and cruelty-free materials. Despite its electric drivetrain, the i5 still offers heated and cooled seats for maximum comfort.

One standout feature of the BMW i5

Is its large central touchscreen powered by BMW’s iDrive 8.5 infotainment system. The touchscreen is complemented by a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, creating a sleek and modern dashboard layout. The iDrive system is quick and intuitive, allowing for easy navigation and access to various features. BMW introduced a new feature called AirConsole, allowing occupants to play video games via smart phones while parked.
This feature was specifically designed to entertain occupants during charging stops, acknowledging the inconvenience of charging time.

Is it another Ultimate Driving Machine

As you can imagine, the BMW i5 offers an impressive performance. It is available in two variants: the rear-wheel-drive i5 eDrive40 and the all-wheel-drive i5 M60. The eDrive40 features a single rear-mounted motor, while the M60 boasts a pair of electric drive units for enhanced power and control. Both variants offer a smooth and engaging driving experience, with the M60 delivering a more high-performance feel. The i5 also offers a comfortable ride, thanks to its chassis setups and optional electronically controlled dampers.

Range Worthy Performance

When it comes to range and charging, the i5 eDrive40 has an estimated range of 295 miles, while the M60 xDrive falls slightly to 256 miles. These range estimates are based on the use of the smallest available wheels. Larger wheels may result in reduced range. As for charging, the i5 can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes when connected to a functioning 350-kilowatt charger. These specifications make the i5 competitive among luxury EVs on the market.

Overall Feelings and Touch Points

The 2024 BMW i5 is a worthy addition to the 5 Series lineup, and brings the BMW 5 Series to Another Level. Combining BMW’s renowned design and craftsmanship with modern and sustainable technology.
The i5 offers a seamless transition to an electric drivetrain without compromising on performance or comfort. With its luxurious interior, intuitive infotainment system, and impressive driving dynamics, the i5 sets a new standard for electric sedans.
Customers can expect more exciting additions to the 5 Series in the future, with BMW’s gas-powered models set to arrive later this year. The future looks bright for BMW’s electrification efforts.

BMW Cambodia are yet to confirm pricing, or when the first cars will arrive, but we expect early 2024.
