Reviewing the 2024 Lexus NX: A Popular Choice in Cambodia

The 2024 Lexus NX is a hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUV that offers impressive fuel economy and a luxurious feel. With its sharp styling and abundance of standard tech features, it stands out among other compact luxury SUVs, will it again prove to be a popular choice in Cambodia?
There are some downsides to consider. The technology in the NX can be frustrating to use, especially the nonsensical heads-up display. Additionally, it has less back seat space compared to its rivals.

When it comes to the NX, the focus is on its hybrid options. Lexus is one of the few luxury brands that offer hybrids, and if you want to save gas while enjoying the benefits of a luxury vehicle, the NX is a great choice. The gas-only versions of the NX are less impressive. The base engine is lackluster, and the turbocharged engine doesn’t perform as well as expected. Overall, the NX falls short in terms of spaciousness, infotainment controls, and driving enjoyment.

In terms of interior and technology, the NX has a fresh and new cabin design. The layout is different from the Toyota RAV4, and the materials used are appropriate for a luxury vehicle. However, there are some complaints about the in-car tech. The infotainment system has a 9.8-inch screen with physical climate control toggles or an optional 14-inch unit with touch-sensitive controls. The system lacks split-screen functionality and a dedicated home screen, which can be frustrating to navigate. The satellite radio interface is also poorly designed. The NX offers features like wireless charging, a digital rearview mirror, and an AI assistant that responds to voice commands.

The size of the NX falls into the compact luxury SUV segment, but it remains one of the smallest entries in terms of interior dimensions. It is comparable to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and has similar dimensions to subcompacts like the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. However, the cargo area is more useful than expected, with a 22-cubic-foot volume that can accommodate luggage and includes under-floor storage.

The NX comes with four available engines and is offered in front- and all-wheel-drive configurations.
Firstly, the NX 250 with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 203 hp. it’s slow 0-60 mph but with fuel economy ratings of 11 km/l city, 14 km/l highway.
Secondly, the NX 350 has a 2.4-liter turbo charged engine with 275 hp and better fuel economy ratings of 9 km/l city, 12 km/l highway.
Thirdly, the NX 350h hybrid has a total system hp of 239 with fuel economy ratings of 17.5 km/l city, 15.7 highway.
Lastly, the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid has a total system hp of 304 and offers electric power alone for an estimated 37 miles. The fuel economy is rated at 84 MPG-e.

The driving experience of the NX is comfortable and geared towards comfort rather than performance. The hybrids are the better choice when it comes to powertrain options, as they offer refined power and impressive fuel economy. The base engine is lackluster, while the turbocharged engine provides more power but still falls short of being a performance choice. The plug-in hybrid offers smooth power delivery and is the best option for a balance of performance and fuel consumption.

Overall, the 2024 Lexus NX is a solid choice for those looking for a fuel-efficient luxury SUV. The hybrid options stand out for their impressive fuel economy, while the gas-only versions have their shortcomings. The interior offers a fresh design, but the technology can be frustrating to use. The NX falls short in terms of interior space compared to its rivals. However, if you prioritize fuel efficiency and a luxury feel, the NX is worth considering.
