2024 BMW X7: Cambodia’s Guide to the Flagship Model

An Impeccable Choice in the Three-Row Luxury SUV Segment

The Best SUV in Cambodia is a questions trending on Google, does the 2024 BMW X7 meet the customers needs, read on to discover more.

The 2024 BMW X7 offers ultra-smooth powerful engines and surprisingly good handling.
Its interior is decadent and upscale, featuring high-quality materials and luxurious amenities. Cons: The infotainment system can be frustrating to use, and the X7’s polarizing design may not appeal to everyone. Additionally, the power in the second row leaves some utility on the table.

The 2024 BMW X7 may not immediately bring to mind BMW’s sporting heritage, but it is, in fact, one of the brand’s best-executed products for its intended purpose. While it may not handle like a 3 Series on twisty roads, it still provides a surprisingly fun driving experience. Whether you choose the xDrive40i or the Alpina XB7, both offer smooth and powerful acceleration that will put a smile on your face. In terms of handling, the M60i and Alpina versions of the X7 outshine any other three-row SUV in its price range, though the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 does put up a fight.

BMW X7 Interior

BMW’s interior design is top-notch, and the X7 showcases all the upscale features that BMW has to offer. The cabin exudes luxury, with glass controls, high-definition screens, and an overall poshness that impresses every time you step inside. All three rows of seating are spacious and comfortable, making the X7 an ideal choice for larger families. While there are bigger SUVs on the market that can accommodate more passengers, the X7 strikes a perfect balance between space, luxury, and utility. When compared to the Mercedes GLS, choosing between the two is challenging, but for those who prioritize the driving experience, the BMW X7 is the clear winner. Aside from a few frustrations with the infotainment system, the X7 is an excellent choice in the three-row luxury SUV segment.

Technology

Moving on to the interior and technology, the X7 boasts a stunning cabin with glass controls, ambient lighting, and high-quality leather and trim.
The seats are spacious and comfortable, providing good visibility both up front and in the rear. The X7’s size is evident both on the outside and inside, with plenty of room for all three rows of occupants. Even the third row can be heated, adding to the luxurious experience. However, while the materials used in the interior are top-notch, the infotainment system is in need of improvement. Last year’s update introduced BMW’s Curved Display with iDrive 8, which replaced physical climate and radio controls with on-screen controls. Unfortunately, basic tasks like adjusting the fan speed now require multiple screen taps, making the system less user-friendly. On the positive side, the graphics and operation of the screens are excellent, and the inclusion of a traditional volume knob is a welcome feature.

In terms of size, the X7 is the largest BMW model available. This is evident both in its exterior dimensions and its interior space. The second row offers ample room for passengers, and even adults can comfortably fit in the third row. The third row even has its own climate controls, ensuring that all occupants can enjoy a comfortable ride. One downside is that the second-row captain’s chairs do not fold, limiting the X7’s cargo capacity compared to other large three-row SUVs. If maximum cargo space is a priority, it’s recommended to opt for the sliding and reclining second-row bench seat instead. Not only is it comfortable, but it also adds an extra seat.

BMW X7 Engines

The X7 offers three different powertrain options, each tied to a different model. The xDrive40i is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine, assisted by a mild-hybrid system. It produces 375 horsepower. All X7 models come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The estimated 0-60 mph time is 5.6 seconds, and fuel economy is rated at 21 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined.
The X7 M60i features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a mild-hybrid assist, delivering 523 horsepower. The 0-60 mph time improves to 4.5 seconds, but fuel economy drops to 16 city, 21 highway, and 18 combined.
The Alpina XB7 takes performance to the next level with a modified version of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, producing a whopping 631 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The 0-60 mph time is reduced to just 3.9 seconds, and fuel economy is rated at 16 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined.

Driving Experience

Driving the X7 is a unique experience due to its size and height-adjustable air suspension. The X7 models feel their size, providing a comfortable and composed ride. The handling is surprisingly good for a vehicle of this size, allowing for a satisfying driving experience even on winding roads. However, if you’re looking for taut handling and responsive steering, the X7 may not meet your expectations. The M60i model offers a more performance-oriented driving experience, with improved handling and more confidence-inspiring dynamics. The twin-turbo V8 engine delivers effortless power, propelling the X7 with ease. While the M60i is undeniably enjoyable to drive, opting for the more efficient six-cylinder version and pairing it with a dedicated sports car would be a more budget-friendly choice. The Alpina XB7, with its enhanced performance, promises an even more exhilarating drive, although a review of the pre-refresh model is available for reference.

BMW X7

Conclusion

The 2024 BMW X7 is a standout luxury SUV in Cambodia. Offering powerful engines, impressive handling, and a luxurious interior.
The X7’s downsides include frustrations with the infotainment system, its polarizing design, and a limited utility in the second row.
However, overall, it excels in its intended purpose, providing a refined and enjoyable driving experience.
With its upscale amenities, spacious seating, and powerful engines, the X7 proves to be a top contender in its segment. It’s particularly suitable for drivers who prioritize both luxury and performance.
