Sneak Peek into the 2024 Acura TLX: Subtle Style Enhancements

The 2024 Acura TLX has undergone several updates to remain competitive and address customer feedback. One obvious change is the redesigned front end, inspired by the TLX Concept car. The lower air dam area has been modified, and the grille is now frameless. The base TLX no longer has the chrome lipstick around the “Diamond Pentagon” grille, giving it a sleeker appearance.

Trimming Down Trim Levels:

Additionally, the number of trim levels has been reduced from eight to three. The TLX with Technology Package, A-Spec, and Type S are the remaining options. The base TLX with Technology Package is now only with front wheel drive, while the A-Spec and Type S come with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The previous trim levels, such as the Technology-less Base TLX and front wheel drive A-Spec, have been discontinued, as they were not as popular among customers.

However, certain features from the discontinued trim levels have been retained. For instance, the head-up display and surround view parking camera from the Advance package, which was popular among buyers, are now standard in the Acura TLX Type S. The Type S also offers dealer installed options for light weight wheels in a Copper color and performance tires, similar to what was available in the special edition Type S PMC Edition.

Listening to Customers:

Another customer request that Acura has fulfilled is the enlargement of the A-Spec wheels to 19 inches, now coated in Shark Gray paint. The Type S wheels have been updated to Berlina Black to match the new gloss black finish in the grille. The A-Spec also features a redesigned rear spoiler with a glossy black finish and a diffuser with round tailpipes.

A significant visual upgrade is the relocation of the adaptive cruise control radar sensor and forward collision prevention system. This is now encased behind the Acura logo, previously it was on the grille mesh with the logo on top. This change provides a cleaner and more integrated look. The blind spot warning sensors have also been upgraded to offer an expanded field of vision.

Interior Changes:

Inside the 2024 Acura TLX, the touchpad infotainment controller, known as the Precision Cockpit, remains unchanged. However, the screen size is now enlarged to 12.3 inches, and the processor running it is faster. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are now included, and the ambient lighting control is more easily accessible from the main menu. Additionally, the Type S dash now features extra stitching, a detail that was requested by customers.

The analog gauges in the TLX have been replaced with a new 12.3 inch all digital display. Two designs are available: the “Crafted” design, which resembles two standard dials, and the “Advance” design, which places the tachometer and speedometer on the periphery and features a smaller central speedometer with graphics for ADAS and infotainment. The Type S Sport+ mode offers a third design, featuring a large horizontal bar graph for the tachometer. Similar to the Integra Type S, the revised TLX Type S allows for additional gauges on the infotainment screen, such as turbo boost and a g-meter.

Driving Experience Enhancements:

In terms of the driving experience, the 2024 Acura TLX features additional sound-deadening measures in all models. The throttle response in the Type S Sport+ mode has also been sharpened. However, there have been no other changes to the powertrain or chassis.

The updated 2024 Acura TLX will be available for purchase in late November. Pricing details have not been released yet, but Acura has stated that the prices will be slightly higher, but in line with the previous TLX models with Technology Package, A-Spec, and Type S.
