2024 Hyundai Kona: Stylish and Affordable Crossover for Cambodia

Hyundai’s popular subcompact crossover, the Kona, is returning for a second generation in 2024 to be more stylish and affordable. With improvements in size, interior space, and technology, Hyundai aims to address the previous model’s shortcomings and provide a better driving experience. The 2024 Kona is longer and wider, offering more room in the rear seat and a larger cargo area. The Kona EV will also make a comeback, although production models are not available yet. Hyundai hasn’t confirmed whether there will be a dedicated N model, but they are open to exploring options that bring driving excitement to the brand.

The engine options for the new Kona remain relatively unchanged from the previous generation. The base engine is a 2.0 liter four cylinder with 147 hp, while the N Line and Limited trims feature a 1.6 liter turboc four cylinder with 190 hp. The previous dual clutch transmission has been replaced with an eight speed auto transmission. During a test drive of the Limited and N Line versions, the Kona’s larger size was evident, impacting its agility and responsiveness. The higher weight and the slightly slower transmission took away some of the previous generation’s sharpness. However, it is worth noting that an N model is expected in the future, which will likely satisfy enthusiasts’ desires for a sportier driving experience.

A Key Focus Area

One of the main focuses of the Kona’s redesign was to make it more practical and appealing to young crossover buyers, for those customers looking for a more stylish and affordable crossover for Cambodia. The previous generation was considered one of the smallest in its segment, but the bigger size of the 2024 Kona provides more interior space and a more comfortable rear seat. While the more cargo volume may not seem significant, it makes a difference in everyday usability. The redesigned interior, including the switch to a column mounted shifter, creates a more spacious feel and decluttered dash. However, the price of the top of the line Kona has increased, pushing into the range of larger crossovers like the Jeep Compass and Dodge Hornet.

Overall, the 2024 Hyundai Kona offers improvements in size, interior space, and technology, making it a solid choice in the subcompact crossover segment and fits well into thouse searching for a stylish and affordable crossover for Cambodia.
Enthusiasts may want to wait for the rumored N model, as it is expected to provide a more thrilling driving experience. While the new Kona has some drawbacks, such as the slightly slower transmission and higher price point, it still offers good value for the money. Hyundai’s focus on practicality and attractiveness to young buyers is evident in the redesign, making the Kona a competitive option in its class.
