The demand in Cambodia for Rolls-Royce’s Black Badge models has been very high. The global demand has prompted the brand to delve further into this mysterious aesthetic with a limited edition version of the Ghost known as the Ékleipsis Private Collection. This sedan boasts several unique astrology inspired design elements both inside and out.
True to its name, the Ékleipsis pays homage to the captivating phenomenon of an eclipse (the natural event you witness in the sky, not the Mitsubishi car). This exclusive model is painted in a distinctive shade called Lyrical Copper. Described by the Rolls-Royce design team as capturing the enchanting illumination cast by a total solar eclipse.
Mandarin accents can be found on the exterior body and brake calipers, adding a striking contrast to the overall look. The hand painted thin line that runs from the front to the rear adds another touch of artistry.
As you step inside the Ékleipsis, you will be greeted by Rolls-Royce’s famous Starlight headliner. This now featuring a specially designed animation that mimics the eclipse experience. When the doors are closed and the engine ignites, the stars on the headliner darken, creating the illusion of a solar eclipse. A precise sequence plays, replicating a full solar eclipse, lasting an impressive seven minutes and 31 seconds; the longest duration of a total solar eclipse. The circle that emerges consists of 940 “stars,” while the background showcases an additional 192 “stars.” At the conclusion of this captivating display, the standard Starlight headliner returns.
Perfecting this intricate feature proved to be a difficult task. It took Rolls-Royce a year of dedicated work and the creation of three complete test units to achieve the desired result.
A Gem inside a Gem
But Rolls-Royce’s attention to detail doesn’t stop there. The Ékleipsis boasts an analog clock on the dashboard, uniquely adorned with a brilliant cut 0.5 carat diamond integrated into its bezel. Surprisingly, this marks the first time that Rolls-Royce has placed a gemstone into the clock’s design. Passengers in this exclusive model can lounge in two tone leather upholstered seats featuring over 200,000 perforations. Additional standard items include Mandarin-piped umbrellas and a car cover.
Only 25 units of the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection will be manufactured worldwide. Pricing has not been disclosed, but it was sold out even before its public unveiling. Demand in Cambodia for Rolls-Royce’s Black Badge is high, one may find its way to a Phnom Penh collector.
