Toyota Beyond Zero Teaser on X: Coming bZ Compact SUV

In November of last year, Toyota unveiled a bZ Compact SUV concept at the LA Auto Show. However, details about the vehicle were sparse. It was speculated that the concept provided a glimpse of a future model that would fit below the bZ4X.
Two months later, spy photographers captured images of the electric vehicle disguised under camouflage. Now, Toyota Japan has released a teaser video on X, hinting at the next addition to the Beyond Zero lineup. Many believe it may be named the bZ3, although Toyota has already introduced a bZ3 sedan in the Chinese market.

This snippet suggests that Toyota is placing significant emphasis on the blue dot and “Beyond Zero” emblems. These emblems made their first appearance on the 2023 Prius, where Toyota explained that they represented a global effort to achieve carbon neutrality in their products and manufacturing. According to the translation, the X post caption states, “The present we live in is also the future in which the next generation will live. This badge from the Prius conveys the message that we value the happiness of people living on earth and want to pass it on to the next generation. Towards a future beyond zero. BEYOND ZERO.”

What Information is Available

While we await further information about the production version of the vehicle, there are a few details that we do know. The compact SUV will be slightly larger than a Corolla Cross but smaller than a RAV4. As for its powertrain, Toyota has managed to keep it a secret even a year after the concept’s debut. The larger bZ4X model comes with a 150-kilowatt (201 horsepower) motor in its front-wheel-drive form, but it’s possible that this smaller bZ variant will have a lower power output. The bZ4X’s all-wheel-drive model is equipped with a pair of 80-kW (107 hp) motors.

The concept’s interior showcased angular and minimalist design, featuring tablet-style screens for the instruments and infotainment system. A sleek wraparound panel extended from the front edges of the dashboard to the doors. Additionally, the concept included a steering yoke, which is also expected to be introduced in the Lexus RZ electric car. Toyota mentioned that the seats would incorporate plant-based materials, and an A.I. assistant named “Yui” would handle voice commands. This hints at a sophisticated tech suite, which is said to offer features that have never been seen before in Toyota models.
