Toyota is continuing its electric car push at the Japan Mobility Show with the introduction of an electric version of the Land Cruiser. This new Land Cruiser, known as the Land Cruiser Se concept, gives off a different vibe compared to other Land Cruisers.
Unlike its gas-powered counterparts, the Se concept features a low and sleek design, with a forward-leaning rear hatch and large wheels with thin tires. Its appearance suggests that it is more suited for city driving rather than off-roading.
However, the Land Cruiser Se concept does incorporate some design elements from the traditional SUV line. It maintains squared-off wheel wells and fenders, a practically horizontal hood, and offers a roof in contrast colors. As with most big SUV’s It is expected to have three rows of seats.
While not much information is available about the mechanical aspects of the Land Cruiser Se, it is worth noting that it is an all electric vehicle and utilizes a unibody construction instead of the body-on-frame design commonly found in today’s Land Cruisers. It is speculated that the Land Cruiser Se concept may have two motors to provide a level of four-wheel drive.
It is important to note that the Land Cruiser Se concept is just a concept vehicle, and Toyota has not announced any plans for production. However, it is almost certain that the Land Cruiser will eventually be electrified. Hopefully, the future electric Land Cruisers will maintain a design that is closer to the current SUV models.
As we shift closer and closer to an Electrified future in Cambodia, we await the infrastructure to catch up with the demand. The chicken and egg scenaro will always be there. But with so many electric cars coming we hope there are more chargers soon.
